New Ideas For Your Morning Oats

Sunshine Oats…

Ingredients:

-plain oats

-water or low fat milk

-orange juice

-craisins

-berries

 

Directions:

1- Combine 1/2c oats with 3/4c water or low fat milk.

2- Microwave for 1-2 minutes.

3- Add 1/4c of orange juice, and 12-15 craisins.  Stir together for 1 minute.

4- Add berries or other fruit on top.

Tips From the Dietitian:

Use juice that is 100% juice.  This can be found on front of the container, or above the nutrition facts.  For extra benefits, choose orange juice that has Calcium & Vitamin D added to it!

Egg on Oatmeal…

Ingredients:

-plain oats

-water or low fat milk

-margarine (or butter)

-egg

-salt/pepper

 

Directions:

1- Combine 1/2c oats with 1/2c water or low fat milk.

2- Microwave for 1-2 minutes.

3- Add 1/2 T margarine and stir.

4- Cook egg on stove top over easy (so that the yolk in is slightly runny in the middle).  Do not forget to spray the pan with non-stick spray.

5- Place egg on top of the oatmeal and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Yo Way Oats…

Ingredients:

-plain oats

-water or low fat milk

-yogurt (prefer greek)

-cinnamon

-berries or other fruits

 

Directions:

1- Combine 1/2c oats with 1/2c water or low fat milk.

2- Microwave for 1-2 minutes.

3- Add 1/4c of greek yogurt (that is about 1/2 an individual container), and a pinch of cinnamon.  Stir.

4- Add berries or other fruit on top
