Healthier Chocolate PB2 No-Bake Cookies
Why is this recipe a healthier option?
1- LOWER IN SUGAR- This recipe uses 1/4 the amount of sugar as a normal no bake cookie recipe.
2- LOWER IN CALORIE- This recipe has about 1/3 less calories as a normal no bake cookie recipe.
3- LOWER IN SAT. FAT- This recipe uses margarine, which is an unsaturated fat (heart healthy fat). It has added stanols/sterols that help to lower cholesterol in the body when consumed in moderation.
No-Bake Cookie Recipe
Ingredients:
-1/2c sugar
-1 stick of margarine (no trans fat)
-1/2c low fat milk
-1/4c cocoa powder
-3c oats
-1c powdered peanut butter (PB2)
-1 pinch of salt
Instructions:
1- Bring the sugar, milk, margarine, and cocoa powder to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally.
2- Let this boil for about 1 minute.
3- Remove from heat. Add oats, powdered peanut butter, and salt. Stir together well.
4- roll into small cookie balls and place on desired dish to cool.
5- You can decide whether you want to serve the cookies warm off the stove or chill in the refrigerator to serve cold. Either way is delicious!
